Social Security Law

We Deal With the Social Security Administration

The Coolidge Law Firm has the experience it takes to help you with your claim for Social Security Disability Benefits or Supplemental Security Income. When you can prove you have a physical or mental impairment that is so severe that it prevents you from working a regular job (“substantial gainful activity”) for a minimum of twelve consecutive months, you may be eligible for benefits.

We can help you file an application with the Social Security Administration. Our staff will explain the process and help prepare the application. Our thorough approach in supplying the appropriate information is key in this step. Nevertheless, as most applications at the Social Security Administration are declined, we are also prepared to request a hearing within 60 days on your behalf.

At the hearing, we can present a clear picture of your limitations, supported by medical records and testimonies, to the judge, who even may call in an expert about possibilities for a different job. Although the hearing takes place in an informal setting, it is important that we present evidence to the judge in the clearest way possible. A decision will be made within approximately 4–6 weeks.

Appeals Council

If the decision is not in your favor, we can appeal it to the Appeals Council (within 60 days). The Appeals Council can decide to review your case itself or to return it to an administrative law judge for further review. If you disagree with the Appeals Council’s decision, or if the Appeals Council decides not to review your case, your next step is to file a civil suit in a federal district court.

Experience Counts

The attorneys at The Coolidge Law Firm in Somersworth NH have over 100 years combined experience in Social Security law and have helped many clients on the Seacoast, in New Hampshire, and in Maine. No matter where you are in the process, preparing a claim, dealing with hurdles on the way, or with a rejected claim, our experienced attorneys can help.

The process often is not straight forward, so many people are denied even though they have a legitimate disability. We take the time and care it needs and are the determined advocates you can rely upon. Right from the start, we will use reliable strategies to build a strong case and fight for the benefits you deserve.

In addition to Social Security Disability Benefits, we also handle personal injury claims.
